IVF (In-Vitro Fertilisation)

Dandelion Leaves

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) that helps individuals and couples overcome fertility challenges and achieve pregnancy by combining the egg and sperm outside of the body.

IVF involves the following key steps:

1.    Ovarian Stimulation: Medications are used to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.

2.    Egg Retrieval: Mature eggs are collected from the ovaries through a minor surgical procedure.

3.    Fertilisation: The retrieved eggs are combined with sperm in a laboratory dish for fertilisation.

4.    Embryo Culture: Fertilised eggs develop into embryos, which are monitored for several days.

5.    Embryo Transfer: One or more healthy embryos are transferred into the uterus to establish a pregnancy.

6.    Post-Transfer Support: Medications may be provided to support the uterine lining and increase the chances of embryo implantation.

7.    Pregnancy Test: A pregnancy test is conducted to determine if implantation and pregnancy have occurred.

In addition to addressing infertility in heterosexual couples, In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) emerges as a viable option for same-sex and gender-diverse couples, as well as single women aspiring to build a family.
